What To Expect When You Worship Here

Welcome to First United Methodist Church in downtown Albany, Georgia. We hope that the information you find here will help make your first visit a more pleasant one.

Please look for Visitor Parking signs located on Flint Avenue to the right of the main sanctuary. Handicap spaces are also located in front of and beside the sanctuary, and in all parking lots. We are fortunate to have ample parking which can be found on the corners of Flint and Jefferson streets, and Roosevelt and Jackson streets. Street side diagonal parking can be found on Jackson St. and Flint Ave. Also, there is convenient parking directly across Flint Ave. from the main sanctuary.

If you are worshipping in either of our two traditional services in the sanctuary you will be greeted and assisted by a member of our Usher Team. You will be given a copy of our weekly First Word publication which will be full of great information about the ministries and congregation of FUMC. You will also be given an order of worship which will enable you to closely follow the order of the service. If the Sacrament of Holy Communion is observed, you will be welcomed to the Lord’s Table no matter what your denomination or status of church membership is. We invite you to stop by the Welcome Table so that our Greeter can provide you with helpful information.

If you are worshipping in our contemporary service, The Way, in Ford Hall, you will be offered coffee, juice and pastries by members of our Hospitality Team. Our Greeters will assist you with a name tag and by answering any questions you might have. A copy of the First Word and an outline of the worship service will be found in your seat. Praise and worship lyrics will be on screens located to the left and right of the stage.

Whether you’re worshipping in The Way or traditional worship, we ask that you assist us in getting to know you better by signing one of blue books located on the end of the pew or row closest to the center aisle on which you’re seated. After signing, please pass on to the person seated next to you.
